National SEND Review Discussion

Ms Spivey, CEO and Headteacher, was honoured to be invited by the Office of Amanda Martin MP to meet with the Minister for School Standards, Georgia Gould, during her visit to Portsmouth today.  The Minister holds a wide range of responsibilities, including teacher training, school improvement, inspection and pupil premium.  Today's roundtable discussion focused on the current national SEND review and how schools are responding creatively to some of the current challenges in that area of educational provision.  Ms Spivey commented, "The opportunity to have a face to face discussion with the Minister was incredibly useful, and allowed for a thoughtful exchange of ideas as to how we can constructively work together to improve education and the other services that support children and young people.  We look forward to learning more about the Government's plans when the White Paper is released".  On 11 June 2025, as part of the Spending Review the Government confirmed that its intended approach to SEND reform would be set out in a Schools White Paper, now expected to be released in early 2026.
