DCT Forges Ambitious New Partnership
PORTSMOUTH, UK – 23 January 2026
The De Curci Trust and University of Portsmouth have solidified a transformative partnership following a strategic visit today by University representative, Eric Baumgarter. Eric, Executive Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, is passionate about the role universities play in addressing issues of Social Inclusion, Justice, and Mobility.
CEO Sara Spivey described the meeting as a catalyst for future collaboration, establishing joint-working to tackle inequality and improve student experiences.
"Today’s visit was incredibly positive," she said. "We are moving beyond conversation to put concrete plans in place to support learning at all ages, sharing facilities and expertise. It's wonderful to share a vision and synergy with colleagues at the University."
The partnership is moving straight into delivery mode with foci on:
- Flagship Staff Development: Plans are underway to co-deliver an INSET day in January 2027, alongside consideration of new flexible Masters-level pathways and secondment schemes for staff.
- Student Experience: Unlocking access to specialised spaces like the ‘Forensics House’, expanding engagement in STEM and healthcare, and supporting The Brilliant Club.
- Strategic Impact: Pursuing joint funding to address educational inequalities where feasible, and possibly hosting a 'Provocation Day' to address boldy real-world school/educational challenges.
